Hailing from the beautiful Free State province in South Africa,”PM Project” is a unique deejay collaboration with a passion for producing their own music with a creative and innovative flair. Resisting the temptation of falling into the lifestyles of the crime ridden neighbourhoods they grew up in, the group decided to call themselves “Positive Minds”. This is where “PM Project” was formed.
The duo pride themselves for not using loops but always programming their beats from single hits. This results in fresh and original productions. Categorising their music as Soulful House with hints of Afro House here and there, PM Project are using their diversified talent to set themselves apart.
Still fairly new in the scene, they were discovered in 2010 by Californian label, “SoSo Deep Records” and released their first single “Bosiu Kaofela” did exceptionally well as their debut release and peaked at number 24 on the Traxsource Top 100. With this track rapidly gaining popularity, PM Project then started to remix for established producers and artists from the likes of “Hanna Hais, Suges, Oscar P and Mr. Cee”. With several releases following this, the duo now holds several club residencies and has performed alongside artists like “Liquideep, DJ Christos, Mi Casa, Abicah Soul and Harrison Crump”.
In 2013 P.M Project signed a recording deal with “Soul Candi Records” and released their debut album “Producers Series Vol 1” In 2014. The album features 12 tracks including remixes. Some of the tracks they’ve remixed for the album include “That Girl” from Calvin Fallo ft Tellaman and “The Waters in My Eyes” from Imaani Brown. On the album P.M Project also collaborated with artists like “Andy Boi, Keiko Yoshimura, Lady X & Tellaman”. Taking their time to ensure that not one of the songs on the album sounds the same was priority. A year later after releasing their album P.M Project worked on a remix with UPZ “Stars” from Mareichan feat Dj Ganyani which did well on radio, reached number 3 on the YFM Top 40 & number 1 on the Hot 99 Dance.
Looking forward to the future, the duo are excited to see what is in store for them. Performing on an international level for audiences around the world is a goal PM Project hopes to fulfill very soon! In the meantime they are fully focused on producing new material and extending their sound to a broader fanbase. Encouraging their fans to follow in their footsteps, these words of wisdom were shared “Put your mind where your passion is – laziness has no reward”. Proof is in the pudding and it’s clear to see that when this duo gets cooking, only the best tracks are created!
